The Last? Dinner with Art: An exhibition on grief, uncertainty and food
November to December 2024
By: Andrea Flores and Erick Carrillo
This dinner is also an installation that explores the experience of facing the potential loss of a home, examining the elements that truly make a home. For the writer Emanuele Coccia, home is more than physical space; it is an extension of oneself. The items that fill a home are not merely objects; they hold memories and lived experiences. In a home created by migrants, a constant state of uncertainty exists, especially when time is defined by the limits of a work visa. What responsibility do institutions have to engage in dialogue and offer stability to those workers who help build and enrich their spaces and the societies with which they interact?
This menu, created by Andrea Flores, conveys a sense of belonging through the influence of Mexican flavours , which accompany the migrant in their life away from home, serving as a form of comfort and cultural connection. Each dish served at the table tells a series of stories that deepen the dialogue surrounding the installation.
